Welcome to VRAFY

VRAFY is more than a software company. We are a service company that uses software to help growers organize their data, make better agronomic decisions, and simplify the technology side of their operation.

Our goal is to make farm data easier to use and more valuable without adding more work for the grower.

What We Offer

VRAFY combines agronomic support, data management, and software into one service.

Depending on the program you are using, VRAFY can help with:

  • Soil sampling and soil test management
  • Variable-rate fertilizer prescriptions
  • Variable-rate planting prescriptions
  • Yield data/Soil data analysis
  • Satellite imagery
  • Fertility planning
  • Field boundaries and data cleanup
  • Importing and organizing farm data
  • Moving data between different platforms and equipment systems

The software is an important part of what we offer, but the service behind it is just as important.

Our team helps manage the setup, data, and agronomic work so growers do not have to spend as much time trying to make different systems work together.

We Help Handle the Data Side

Farm data can come from a lot of different places, and getting everything into one usable system can sometimes be one of the hardest parts.

Whenever possible, VRAFY tries to handle that process for you.

John Deere Operations Center

VRAFY has a full integration with John Deere Operations Center.

For growers using Operations Center, most of the VRAFY experience can take place directly within the Operations Center environment. Field information and agronomic data can move between the systems, allowing growers to continue working in a platform they are already familiar with while still using VRAFY's tools and services.

Our goal is to avoid making growers manage another separate system when they do not need to.

Climate FieldView, Panorama, and Case IH FieldOps

VRAFY also works with:

  • Climate FieldView
  • Panorama
  • Case IH FieldOps

These are currently partial integrations. We can bring supported information from these platforms into our system and use it throughout the VRAFY process.

Growers using these platforms can also access their information through VRAFY Connect, our NEW backend software for viewing and working with their VRAFY data.

Whether you use John Deere, Climate, Panorama, Case IH,  a combination of systems or nothing at all, our team helps manage the data movement and setup as much as possible.

VRAFY Sampling App

VRAFY also has a dedicated sampling app for growers who are collecting soil samples.

The VRAFY Sampling App uses the same login as your VRAFY account, so there is no need to maintain another username and password.

The app is designed to make it easy to navigate to sampling locations, collect samples in the field, and keep the sampling information connected to the rest of your VRAFY data.

How We Think About Agronomy

Our approach to agronomy is fairly simple: every field is different, and not every acre should automatically be treated the same.

We use soil tests, yield data, field history, imagery, and observations from the field to better understand the differences within a field.

From there, we can help build recommendations that make sense for the crop, the soil, and the goals of the grower.

This can include:

  • Building low-testing areas
  • Maintaining areas that are already in a good range
  • Accounting for crop removal
  • Adjusting fertilizer rates based on yield goals
  • Addressing pH or nutrient balance concerns
  • Dialing in micro-nutrients to be in Ratio with your macro-nutrients, such as P:Zn ratio

Variable rate is not about applying more fertilizer everywhere. It is about putting the right rate in the right place.

SPY Analysis: Build vs. Maintain

For phosphorus and potassium, we also use SPY Analysis to help determine whether a build strategy makes sense for a field.

SPY Analysis compares soil test values with yield performance to help us understand whether higher soil fertility levels are actually associated with better yields within that field.

The concept is straightforward:

Positive relationship: If the analysis shows a good positive correlation between the soil test level and yield, that gives us more reason to consider building that nutrient. In other words, the field is showing us that areas with higher P or K levels tend to perform better.

Flat or negative relationship: If there is little relationship, or the relationship is negative, we generally lean toward a maintenance approach rather than automatically spending money to build soil test levels.

This allows us to use the grower's own field data to help guide the fertility strategy.

A low soil test does not automatically mean every acre needs to be aggressively built. We want to understand whether increasing that nutrient is likely to provide value in that particular field.

For P and K, this helps us answer a simple question:

Should we build the soil test, or should we maintain what the crop is removing?

SPY Analysis gives us another piece of information to help make that decision.

Soil Sampling and Fertility

Soil sampling is one of the main tools we use to understand what is happening below the surface.

VRAFY recommends using a Mehlich-3 soil test through Midwest Laboratories whenever possible.

If you choose to use Midwest Labs, VRAFY can provide sampling boxes, bags, and shipping labels free of charge.

One of the biggest advantages of using Midwest Labs is the automation that takes place behind the scenes. VRAFY can help send the field and sample information to the lab, and once the samples are processed, the soil test results can automatically flow back into VRAFY.

That means less manual data entry and a faster path from pulling the soil cores to having usable soil fertility maps in the system.

Other Labs Are Supported

You are not required to use Midwest Laboratories or a Mehlich-3 test.

VRAFY can work with soil test data from other laboratories and other testing methods as well. If another lab is used, we simply need to receive the soil test results in a format that can be imported into VRAFY.

Our preference for Midwest Labs and Mehlich-3 is mainly about consistency, automation, and making the overall process easier.

Who Pulls the Soil Cores?

The goal of VRAFY is for growers to have the flexibility to handle the physical sampling however it works best for their operation.

Growers can pull their own soil cores, have an employee do it, or hire someone locally to physically sample the field.

VRAFY helps manage the sampling plan, field setup, supplies, and data side of the process, while the grower decides who actually pulls the cores.

Variable-Rate Prescriptions

One of the main goals of VRAFY is to make it easy for growers to build their own variable-rate prescriptions without needing to be a software expert.

We want growers to be able to take their soil data, yield goals, and agronomic plan and turn that into a variable-rate prescription in a simple, easy-to-use format.

While the grower works on the agronomic decisions, VRAFY helps handle much of the data work behind the scenes.

That can include:

  • Organizing soil test data
  • Bringing in yield information
  • Managing field boundaries
  • Cleaning up data
  • Preparing prescription files
  • Helping move prescriptions into the equipment or platform where they need to go

Growers are not expected to figure everything out on their own, either.

VRAFY has agronomists on staff who can help growers build prescriptions, review recommendations, and work through the agronomy behind a variable-rate plan.

The goal is to give growers more control over their fertility decisions while still having the software, data support, and agronomic help available when they need it.

Yield and Harvest Data

Yield data is another important part of the VRAFY system.

We can help bring harvest data into VRAFY and use it to better understand:

  • Yield variability
  • Long-term productivity
  • Nutrient removal
  • Yield goals
  • Performance of different areas of the field

Over time, combining soil test data and yield data gives us a much better picture of how a field is responding to management.

Satellite Imagery and Scouting

Satellite imagery can help identify differences in crop growth during the season.

It can be useful for finding areas that may need to be looked at more closely because of fertility, drainage, insects, disease, stand issues, or other factors.

We view imagery as another tool to help guide scouting rather than a replacement for being in the field.

Depending on your VRAFY service level, scouting and in-season agronomic support may also be included.

Making Farm Data Useful

Most growers already have a lot of data.

The challenge is getting it organized and actually using it.

That is where we want VRAFY to help.

Our goal is to take information from soil sampling, equipment, software platforms, imagery, scouting, and yield data and bring it together in a way that helps growers make better decisions.

The technology should make managing the farm easier, not create another system that the grower has to manage.

Our Goal

At the end of the day, VRAFY is about giving growers more control over their agronomy while taking as much of the data work off their plate as possible.

We want growers to be able to understand their fields, build their own recommendations, and make confident agronomic decisions while knowing they have a team available to help when needed.

You manage the agronomic decisions. We help make the data work.
